Re-elect Mike McCurdy

Grand County Commissioner, District 5

From Here. For Here.

I am a Grand County native and your District 5 County Commissioner. Over the last four years I've fought to rebuild our local economy, bring events and tourism back to support our businesses and workforce, and make sure Grand County is an affordable place for working families.

I will continue to advocate for the values that matter most to Grand County locals and show up every day to represent you.

Mike McCurdy, candidate for Grand County Commissioner, District 5

Meet Mike

I'm running for re-election as your Grand County Commissioner. Below you can read why I'm running, a bit about who I am, and what we've accomplished together over the last four years.

Why I'm Running for Re-Election
I'm running for re-election because Grand County is my home — always has been, always will be. I was born and raised here, and stayed to raise my kids here. I know what this community is made of, and I know what it needs to succeed. Though we have made significant strides over the last few years, there's still more work to do, and I'm not done fighting for the people who make this community great.

About Mike
I was born and raised here, and I am proud of my roots and grateful for this community. I work hard, I show up, and at the end of the day nothing matters more to me than my wife and kids. When I'm not working or serving on the commission, you'll find me spending time with my family and doing what we all love about living here — enjoying the outdoors and everything Grand County has to offer. I'm not a career politician. I'm your neighbor, and I'm fighting for this place just like you are.

What Mike Has Done for Grand County
Fought to rebuild Grand County's economy, ensuring tourism and local business could succeed — because tourism isn't just an industry here, it's how our neighbors pay their bills. Launched a welcoming marketing and branding campaign to invite visitors back to Grand County, streamlined the Special Events Ordinance, and brought community events and opportunities back to Moab — driving foot traffic and revenue for local businesses and creating meaningful experiences for locals. Worked to increase affordable housing options and advocated for workforce housing solutions to make it possible for the people who sustain our community to afford to live here. Commissioned valley-wide LiDAR mapping for flood mitigation, protecting homes and infrastructure across Grand County.

Issues

These are the issues I'm focused on for Grand County. Click any one to read more.

Affordability
Gas prices are up, groceries cost more, and everyday life is getting harder for working families across Grand County. Too many locals are feeling the squeeze and struggling to make ends meet. My commitment: I am committed to working to reduce the financial burden on local families. As your commissioner, I will advocate for policies that keep money in your pocket and make Grand County a place where working people can afford to stay.

Economy and Tourism
Local businesses depend on a strong, steady flow of visitors and events to keep their doors open and their employees paid. When tourism suffers, we all suffer. My commitment: I will continue bringing events and opportunities back to Grand County, supporting local businesses and making sure tourism — the lifeblood of our economy — keeps working for the people who live here.

Affordable Housing
The rising cost of housing in Grand County has put homeownership and renting out of reach for many of the workers and families who keep this community running. My commitment: I will continue to expand affordable housing options and advocate for workforce housing solutions that make it possible for those who keep our community and economy going to stay here.
